(HAIFA BAY, ISRAEL) Nov. 10, 2021– Israel-based Gadot Biochemical Industries (GBI), a leading global dietary mineral supplier, has announced a new focus on plant-based milk fortification with its portfolio of health-promoting minerals.

According to Germany headquartered Statista Research, in 2020, the global sales of dairy alternatives amounted to about $22.6 billion U.S. dollars. Sales of soymilk in the U.S. alone was set to reach about $1.13 billion, a dramatic increase from $881 million in 2016. In 2020, the global sales of dairy alternatives amounted to about $22.6 billion U.S. dollars. “This shows what we believe is a long-term trend, and a consumer commitment to plant-based milk alternatives,” said Ohad Cohen, Gadot Biochemical Industries chief executive officer. “With all the advantages associated with alternative milk products, it has to be fortified with minerals to be nutritionally equivalent with cow’s milk.

Gadot offers a range of minerals, enabling fortification of plant-based milk with all macro-minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium. Different forms are available and suitable for fortification using Ultra High Temperature (UHT) processing for pasteurized beverages without compromising their organoleptic profile and stability over the period of their shelf-life period.
As part of the program, Gadot offers its customers comprehensive product development assistance that includes ensuring desirable bioavailability, solubility (for example soluble calcium and magnesium reduces shelf-life stability), taste and mouthfeel, color, and mineral content for defined health benefits (e.g., bone health for calcium, muscle support and cardiovascular function, zinc for immune resilience, and potassium for electrolyte balance).

“Milk analogues must be fortified to provide the health benefits of cow’s milk,” Cohen stated. “But they can also provide more with our mineral fortifications, which gives brands extended value for the health-minded consumer.”

With broad experience in developing innovative products tailored to the unique applications of each customer, GBI, a leading GMP manufacturer of ingredients for the nutraceutical, industrial, food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries has earned a worldwide reputation for producing high quality bioavailable products. To many of its customers, Gadot has become a strategic supplier. Over 95% of Gadot’s production is exported worldwide to leading companies in the food, beverage, and nutraceutical industries. Gadot has more than 50 years of experience delivering high bioavailable products including tailor-made solutions and soluble minerals.
